Never apologize for your fluency in english.
If you have a different mother tongue, you are under no obligation to know english at all, let alone fluent english.
Never let anyone make you feel bad for not speaking proper english.
Be proud of your mother tongue.
Why should we learn their language when they mock and refuse to learn our own.
#if someone makes fun of your english#they probs only speak english#so make fun of them for not being multilingual like u (via)
I just want to say that correcting each other’s usage and pronunciation of the english language (and from my experience, any language) is a very common cultural norm. Heck, my family gives me crap whenever i flub a word or use a word incorrectly, that’s how one learns the language. While I will acknowledge that some people are just assholes who like to feel better by giving you a hard time, most people will correct you because that’s just what one does when they hear the language spoken incorrectly. I mean, I felt like crap when I reflexively corrected my friend, who spoke english as a second language, when she pronounced thief like ‘teef’. So in conclusion, don’t feel bad for not speaking english perfectly, we are all learning the language (even us native speakers).
sleeping is hard in the summer because blankets are too warm but without blankets im vulnerable to monsters
My inability to understand cultural appropriation is incredibly frustrating
